Achievement Week 2007

Boys and Girls Club Ceremony

 Phyllicia M. Powers, Cedric Dickerson, Michael Jordan, Fred Whitfield and Children of the Community Boys and Girls Club of Wilmington, NC

On Friday, October 5, 2007 the Charlotte Bobcats in collaboration with Michael Jordan donated a library complete with books for all ages to the Community Boys and Girls Club of Wilmington (CBGCW) to help promote the NBA's academic initiative "Read to Kids". The event on Friday included a pep rally to welcome, Michael Jordan and Fred Whitfield, President of the Charlotte Bobcats, as well as, a ceremonial ribbon cutting. During the ribbon cutting, Community Boys and Girls Club Board of Directors, Chairman, Cedric Dickerson and Vice President of Programs, Growth and Capacity, Phylicia M. Powers represented CBGCW. In addition to providing a library for the children of CBGCW, the Charlotte Bobcats invited over 200 CBGCW members, parents, staff and Board Members to their scrimmage game at University of North Carolina at Wilmington's Trask Coliseum on Sunday, October 7, 2007.
